While all Xbox 360 users will get Xbox Live Silver for free, if you want to play games online you will need to upgrade to the Gold service. The North American pricing is as follows.

Whilst these prices are for packages bought in stores, making Xbox Live available to those without a credit card, the pricing for those buying over the Xbox dashboard is a little cheaper, but you do miss out on the extra goodies.

12-month subscription: US$49.99
Those who already have Xbox Live accounts will be able to port their account over to the Xbox 360 taking any remaining months with them. There has been no official announcement for UK pricing or what packages will be available, but we’ll bring you news as soon as we hear anything.
