The new X-Men title has been co-written by Zak Penn, the screenwriter of movies X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand, and legendary comic book writer Chris Claremont. Set before the events of X-Men: The Last Stand, the game will see players take control of Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Iceman in an original storyline that will reveal new insights into Nightcrawler’s absence from the upcoming movie.

Each character will have his own unique signature powers, be it the brute strength and recovery powers of Wolverine, the acrobatics of Nightcrawler or the Iceman’s ability to ice slide and shoot beams of ice. Players will also be able to pull off more devastating attacks by utilising fury and adrenaline modes, unleashing everything you have on the enemy.

As you progress through the game, your characters’ super powers will improve through the Mutant Evolution System. Uniquely engineered environments will force players to make full use of the powers available to them and seek help from fellow X-Men in order to defeat the enemy.

The game is scheduled for a May, 2006, release on PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, PC, GBA, Xbox 360 and the DS complete with touch screen control.
