Activision has said it will release a new Tony Hawk game in the latter half of 2010. The new game will be the second Tony Hawk title to utilise the board peripheral introduced with 2009’s Tony Hawk: Ride.

“Game ratings for Tony Hawk Ride weren’t as we would have hoped last year. And in hindsight, it took longer to optimise the hardware leaving less time to develop the software we launched in 2009,” said Activision CEO and president Michael Griffith during an overnight earnings call. “Still, play testing and consumer feedback have been very encouraging. The premise of standing on the skateboard and performing tricks that only the pros can pull off is very compelling.”

Griffith added that this year the focus will on “improving the software in order to unlock the full potential of the board” and that the publisher still believes the board “peripheral redefines the skateboarding experience and could potentially have different applications in the future”.
