Work on the sixth Resident Evil movie is yet to be set in motion, series writer and director Paul W.S. Anderson has told Collider.

Speaking in an interview promoting his upcoming disaster pic Pompeii, Anderson was quizzed on the status of the next Resident Evil movie.

“We’d like to do another Resident Evil movie. Definitely,” explained Anderson. “But the wheels aren’t quite in motion yet.”

This makes sense given that Anderson has only recently finished working on Pompeii.

However, Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper confirmed to Collider that a new Resident Evil movie is a priority and it’s merely a case of waiting for Anderson to be ready for the project.
