Marvel Rivals continues to attract players with its latest Season 2.5, which features new cosmetics and skins that keep the game’s roster fresh. NetEase Games has implemented a weekly update schedule, releasing eye-catching costumes that bring in unique comic-inspired designs.
Season 2.5 is jam-packed with personalization options for every hero’s following, from the lavish Hellfire Gala-themed skins to the highly anticipated Swimsuit Special and Peach Momoko designs. These updates, which are frequently related to the Flower of Krakoa Battle Pass or in-game store bundles, provide distinctive sound effects and cinematic intros that enhance the player experience.
The upcoming Jeff the Land Shark Sunshine Land Shark Krakoa Resort skin, which will be available in-game on June 5th, has players excited. Teased in Marvel Rivals Infinity Comic #8 and #11, this legendary combo offers a beach-ready design for the fan-favorite shark, as well as exclusive cosmetics. However, whispers of a “secret text” related to the skin have fueled intrigue, with fans hoping to find buried lore or Easter eggs in Jeff’s tropical costume.
Upcoming Jeff skin in Marvel Rivals contains a sweet nod to Jeff’s love for Krakoa
It’s quite common that NetEase hides lore-based secrets within Gallery Card texts or character descriptions with each new cosmetic that releases in Marvel Rivals, and devs have followed a similar trend in the upcoming Jeff the Land Shark skin.
The text in Jeff’s skin description says, “What did you send? What do ‘nijjxliperhwlevomwxlifiwx’ and ‘mpszioveose’ signify?” When you decrypt the anagram in the text, it translates to “JEFFTHELANDSHARKISTHEBEST ILOVEKRAKOA.”
This is a sweet nod to the comics, where Jeff believes he’s the best character in Marvel and his cuteness shouldn’t be mistaken for his fierceness. Similarly, in the game, Jeff is a menace to many as his ult can literally swallow entire teams and throw them off the map.
Furthermore, a recent controversy with the Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 patch caused debate regarding Jeff the Land Shark’s balancing adjustments, which changed him from a DPS/support mix to a typical healer. Changes to Joyful Splash, Healing Bubble, and Hide and Seek lowered his survivability and unique flair while increasing his ultimate cost. Fans slammed the “nerf,” initiating a 2,300-signature petition to reverse the modifications. NetEase revised outdated patch notes, noting improvements to Joyful Splash and new team-ups with Storm and Venom.
