Blizzard Entertainment has pulled the wraps off the new Witchwood expansion for Hearthstone, which brings a distinct Gothic-horror vibe to the popular PC and mobile card collecting title.
The Witchwood offers a host of extra content, chief among which includes a fresh single-player outing known as Monster Hunts. This appears to follow in the footsteps of the roguelike Dungeon Run from Kobolds and Catacombs, and brings eight bosses and a bunch of new hero characters to the table.
In addition, the expansion also throws in 135 new cards and two new keywords, Echo and Rush. The former allows you to use cards marked with this brand multiple times, providing you have sufficient mana. Finally, the latter is similar to Charge but minions will only attack minions if labelled with the Rush branding when entering the battlefield.Â
The Witchwood has yet to attract a firm release date, although Blizzard has said it’s targeting an April launch. Note that Monster Hunts won’t be available until two weeks after the initial expansion’s release.Â
