Sony has released a new trailer for Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, showing off the game’s new island, Iki.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Patrick Downs, a senior writer at Sucker Punch, takes us through the expansion. “Jin’s journey begins when he discovers that a mysterious Mongol tribe has gained a foothold on Iki,” says Downs. “They are led by a revered shaman called Ankhsar Khatun, known to her followers as ‘the Eagle.’”

The new trailer gives us a good look at Ankhsar Khatun, also known as “the Eagle,” who seems to a be a kind of shaman:

As you can see, the expansion looks very nice indeed—on PlayStation 5, the game runs in 60 frames-per-second, and at 4K. By the way, it looks as if this Eagle woman is brainwashing people into following her. I, for one, don’t trust that tea that she’s offering to Jin.

Ghost of Tsushima launched in Summer 2020, along with The Last of Us Part II. That’s quite a way to end the PlayStation 4 life cycle.

I said, in my review: “When you’re cantering through its serene peaks, reenacting your favourite samurai-movie battles, it’s difficult not to come to a simple conclusion. That was brilliant!” And I stand by that.
