CVG reports on a PC Zone Deus Ex 3 cover story, revealing new information on the highly anticipated sequel from Eidos.
According to the mag, players are cast as Adam Jensen, a private security officer at a tech lab specialising in biomechanical augmentations. His life changes when a team of black ops commandos break into his company’s HQ – mass slaughter ensues and the conspiracy begins.
“Deus Ex 3’s vision of the future sees holographic screens flicker atop ferries moving back and forth in front of the Shanghai skyline, now split into two layers with the rich on the top and the poor in perpetual twilight below,” says PC Zone.
In addition to building the game to please fans, Eidos is also doing its utmost to create a game that is approachable to newcomers. CVG states that combat won’t be influenced by stats, rather relying solely on the player’s skill. Stats will, however, influence a host of fully upgradeable and customisable weapons – mag upgrades, scopes and other add-ons.
Another change is the introduction of a cover system, rather than skulking around in the shadows, and players will also have regenerating health. The mag also notes that there will be 20 augmentations, including bungee jump – tentacles that shoot from the player’s back and anchor to a wall – and the ability to punch through walls.
Following-up CVG’s story on the game, Eidos Montréal’s community manager sent over a few clarifications to VE3D:
“Deus Ex 3 is indeed an RPG. It’s a hybrid action/RPG just like the first game. There is a skill system where you upgrade your character (Adam) based off experience points you earn and you can do the same thing with weapons. It’s a game with a very detailed plot with numerous characters you interact with. The gameplay takes the form of a consequence-driven multi-path, multi-solution approach in a non-linear space.”
PC Zone issue 200 should be available in stores from October 9.
