Konami Online’s Brandon Laurino has confirmed that the Metal Gear Online beta has been updated with its first batch of new content: a new map and a new game type.
The new map, Midtown Maelstrom, is part of the Middle East stage in Metal Gear Solid 4 and consists of main streets and alternate routes. Numerous dark alleys run between buildings, which are very narrow and confusing.
Next is the Sneaking Mission game type, which features one character and two teams: Snake, Red Team and Blue Team. Snake’s mission is to collect a set number of dog tags by stunning other players. The Red and Blue teams simply have to defeat Snake a certain number of times. If more than 10 players are taking part, another player may play as Snake’s mini robotic sidekick, Mk II, and assist Snake. One more thing – if you’re playing as Snake then you also have his abilities, including camouflage, available to you.
