A new patch introducing neon lights, new cars and a fix for the game’s widely-criticised rubber-banding is coming to Need For Speed later this week, Ghost has confirmed.

Scheduled for release this Wednesday, November 25, the ‘Icons’ update is said to rebalance the game’s AI catchup system, meaning players shouldn’t find themselves unfairly overtaken as regularly as they are right now.

It will also add Ken Block’s Hoonicorn and Morohoshi’s Lamborghini Diablo SV, the latter equipped with new neon lights. You can see how they work in the image below.

The two cars will be available to purchase for free from the in-game garage once the required missions have been completed.

Meanwhile, a new Community Events tile on the main menu screen will keep players up to date with whichever event is ongoing at the time, with bonus cash events, REP events and discount events due to take place throughout the coming months.

The first event, Performance Matters, goes live tomorrow, Tuesday, November 24, and offers a 40% discount on all performance upgrades for a limited time.

There are other bonuses, too, including three new achievements and trophies, a REP cap increase from 50 to 60, a revamped colour picker and 30 new pre-set wraps. You can check out the full list of changes through here.

The update will be available to download for free.

Need For Speed is available now on PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC release due next spring.
