Ghost Games has revealed the first info on a new update heading to Need For Speed later this week.

Available on PS4, Xbox One and PC from Wednesday, April 27, the new update introduces a new ‘Speedlists’ feature that allows players to jump straight into competitive multiplayer events from the main menu. Events themed around Speed, Style or both are available to choose from, with players awarded points for their finishing position.

“Multiplayer is an area that we know many of you are deeply passionate about, and we’re really excited to be bringing you SpeedLists, a feature which builds upon that competitive gameplay you’ve been requesting,” said Need For Speed community manager Ben Walke. “SpeedLists are a series of five pre-selected events that you compete in against other human opponents. Getting into the action is quick and easy, simply select the new SpeedList tile from the main menu, chose from Quick Play, Speed, Style or Mixed, and away you go.

“At the end of each event you’ll gain points for the place you finish. Then, once all events have been completed and the points tallied up, the final standings are displayed and the best racers shown off in a short cinematic sequence.”

You’ll also be able to apply a Player Title to your profile based on your achievements in SpeedLists, including a World Champion badge for the world’s No.1 player.

Other new features found in the update include a new ‘Prestige Mode’, which lets players compete in ‘Prestige events’ after completing the main story, plus two new activity types – Drift Corners and Speed Runs – that are now available across the game world.

Three new trophies/achievements can also be unlocked for winning Prestige events and all the events in a SpeedList.
