NBA Live 15 has suffered a minor delay, EA Sports has announced. The game will now launch on PS4 and Xbox One on October 28, three weeks later than the previously planned release date.

The extra few weeks in development will let EA “polish the game” and “make sure [players] get an incredible NBA experience from the moment [they] first boot up the title”.

“This was a hard decision,” said executive producer Sean O’Brien, “but it’s the right one, as we are totally committed to delivering the highest-quality game we possibly can.”

The delay also means that the game will avoid going head-to-head with NBA 2K15, which launches over here on October 10. However, it’s another setback for a series that has struggled to find its feet in recent years, following the cancellation of NBA Live 13 and last year’s disappointing next-gen debut.

More details on NBA Live 15 will be revealed in the coming weeks.
