NetEase has announced that melee battle royale brawler Naraka Bladepoint is both heading to the PlayStation 5 and will go free-to-play on that and its existing formats from next week.
The huge update will go live on July 13, after the game was first announced to be coming to the PlayStation 5 two years ago. But to make up for the time it’s taken, there’ll be a huge update to the game too, with a brand new game mode in the form of Capture the Spirit Well. In this new mode, two teams of up to twelve players will battle it out against each other in order to capture locations to earn points, with the victor of course being the team that earns the most.
Elsewhere, the massive update will also include a brand new hero in the form of 1000 year old demon Tessa, who can charm opponents in order to capture their souls. There’s also a brand new weapon in the game – thanks to the fearsome looking Dual Halberds. This spear and dagger combo can both stab horizontally and can lock other weapons, making your opponents attacks a lot harder to pull off.
Naraka Bladepoint has already got a pretty substantial following with over 20 million players so far before it opened its doors to the PlayStation 5, so there’ll be plenty of other fans on board. Those who already previously purchased the game will be entitled to some ‘veteran rewards’ including an amount of gold “equivalent to what edition they currently possess.”
All that, plus this update includes a new 3D lobby, some PlayStation exclusive items and those playing the game via Xbox Game Pass will also get a free upgrade to the game’s deluxe edition means there’s plenty to look forward to when this update arrives on July 13, alongside Bladepoint Naraka’s arrival on the PlayStation 5.
