Atari has today announced Namco Bandai Games’ Family Trainer, coming exclusively to Wii across Europe in September 2008.

With Wii Fit a worldwide success, Namco Bandai and Atari are looking to get in on the casual gaming/fitness phenomenon with Family Trainer, a new physical Wii title that even comes with its own mat controller.

By combining Wii Remote actions with the mat controller, Family Trainer hopes to get players to get up off the coach and get physical in a range of “crazed challenges”. Using feet and arms players of any age will be taking part in over a dozen challenges, including river rafting, mine karting, log jumping, rope skipping and more. These activities are set in a variety of locations, including a jungle, haunted mansion and a fairytale world.

In addition to playing alone, Family Trainer promises to include fun multiplayer games which will see players competing against each other or teaming up for cooperative play. Tracked scores should also ensure players come back for more.

Family Trainer is scheduled for release across Europe in September.
