MW3 players call crossplay “the worst thing ever added,” as cheaters run rampant in Season 5

If you’ve played any CoD game over the past few years, you’re probably already familiar with the series’ ever-present cheating problem. Although Activision has plenty of measures to counteract these sorts of exploits, it’s nearly impossible to remove every instance since the cheat developers themselves are finding new ways to introduce them to games. And unfortunately, MW3 is the latest victim, as Season 5 has somehow seen an even bigger influx of hackers.

According to a recent X (formerly Twitter) post from ModernWarzone, MW3 “has been absolutely infested with cheaters” since its Season 5 update and after its introduction to Xbox Game Pass. Most comments below the thread shared similar sentiments, with players ultimately placing the blame on crossplay. However, some, like user IntoValhallaX, also pointed out that there are plenty of cheaters on consoles since this was an issue even before Activision introduced crossplay.

Alas, this has also caused Modern Warfare 3 to drop to ‘Mostly Negative’ reviews on Steam due to its rampant issues with cheating, questionable microtransaction practices, and frustrating in-game advertisements. Hopefully, Activision can find a way to reduce the number of MW3 Season 5 cheaters. Though luckily, if you’re a CoD fan, you won’t have to put up with too many hackers for long since the Black Ops 6 release date is now closer than ever (though we’d wager the upcoming game will have its own share of cheaters, too).
