Treyarch has confirmed that Ranked Play will be coming to Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer at some point next year.
Those looking to really test their mettle at Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer will be able to prove themselves in competitive focused playlists, with specific rewards and more up for grabs.

The studio made the announcement to fans via a thread on Twitter, detailing some of what fans can expect for the eSports based rulesets.
As per the first tweet, Ranked Play will include Competitive Modes, Ranked Skill Divisions, Visible Skill Ratings, a Top 250 Leaderboard showcasing the best of the best and Competitive Rewards will be available.
They didn’t give too much more detail than that – however, nor a more specific date; but promise to reveal more details in the coming months.
Until then, a special CDL Moshpit will be added to Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer at the start of Season 1.
As for Ranked Play in older CoD games, both Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard will see their League Play and Ranked Play modes retired from later this month. Those still wanting to get their Ranked Play rewards in those games have until November 22 to do so.
Treyarch concluded their thread with the following message: “The success of these modes has directly contributed to the future of Ranked Play. We sincerely thank you for all the data, feedback and time played that was collected over the past two years.”
“We look forward to sharing more soon.”
