Square Enix has released the first information on Murdered: Soul Suspect, an upcoming action-adventure that sees players attempting to solve their own murder.

Playing as Ronan O’Conner, a detective with a “checkered past”, players must use supernatural abilities to piece together the puzzle behind their death and bring their “brutal and merciless killer” to justice.

Players are able to use their new-found powers to read the minds of the living and influence their thoughts and actions, while interrogating “past citizens” and battling “demonic spirits” to uncover the truth.

It all sounds a lot like DS puzzler Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective to us.

Murdered: Soul Suspect launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in early 2014. More on the game will be revealed at E3.
