A multiplayer Alien VR experience is in the works at FoxNext, the video game and amusement park division of 20th Century Fox.

The Hollywood Reporter had the chance to experience an exclusive proof-of-concept demo of the game while wearing a Samsung Gear VR headset. By the sounds of it this is going to be an on-location type deal as there are plans to have this four-player experience take place in an area measuring 2,000 square foot. I mean, unless you’re minted, chances are you don’t have a front room that big.

The play space will also have heating effects, mist, and ‘physical elements,’ whatever that means. Maybe a lad in a Necromorph costume tries to eat your face?

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, FoxNext President Salil Mehta said ‘FoxNext was created to support our motion pictures and with the view that technology is creating an opportunity for us to really revolutionize the way stories will be told in the future.’

Mehta added that ‘We have an incredible property in Alien and with the timing of the movie and the experience, we can make something genre defining.’

It sounds like if you’re headed to the Fox World theme parks in Malaysia or Dubai in the next while, you might actually get to shoot some Aliens in the face. Or you could just play Colonial Marines. Your choice.
