Eurogamer reports that Microsoft is set to increase the price of its Xbox 360 Arcade console to £159.99, a £30 increase over its current retail price. The new price is said to come into effect on September 1, 2009.
Furthermore, the current bundle will change for the worse, with the five game XBLA bundle to be removed.
Boss of online retailer ShopTo confirmed the price hike, revealing the news had come direct from Microsoft this morning. This has also been backed by an anonymous independent retail chain source.
The price increases won’t end with the Arcade, with a retail source also indicating that Xbox 360 accessories will see prices rise by one or two pounds.
