Microsoft has confirmed to VideoGamer.com that it is yet to announce full details of the launch of Xbox 360 exclusive Halo 3: ODST, one of the most anticipated games of the year.

Halo 3, released in September 2007, officially became the biggest entertainment launch in history, with $170 million in sales in the US alone during the first 24 hours. It beat previous records set by theatrical releases such as Spider-man 3 and novels including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

In the UK, the game launched with a red carpet premiere at the IMAX cinema in London Waterloo. It inevitably entered the UK All Formats Chart at No.1 and become the second fastest selling video game ever in the UK behind GTA: San Andreas.

With ODST, due out September 22, Microsoft is yet to reveal plans for a similarly earth-shaking launch. However, Alex Cutting, producer on Halo 3: ODST from Microsoft Game Studios, told VideoGamer.com “there’s more to come” in that regard.

“We’re really excited about the launch of ODST, and there are even details about the launch that we haven’t announced yet.

“There’s more to come. It’s going to be a huge launch. We’re extremely excited about it. It’s one of the most anticipated titles for the holiday. I expect it to be a big deal.”

Not long now Halo fans.
