Microsoft has confirmed that upcoming controller free technology, Kinect, will support play when sitting down, it’s just that experiences must be created with this in mind.
At E3 last month it was widely reported that Kinect won’t function when the user is in a seated position. This isn’t true insists Microsoft.
“Kinect can be used while sitting when an experience is developed with sitting in mind,” a Microsoft rep confirmed to Joystiq.
Examples of this can already be seen in navigating the Dashboard using Kinect, plus the ESPN, Zune and Video Kinect applications.
The Microsoft rep added it’s “natural for Kinect games to be designed to get you off the couch: dancing, running, dodging, bending and kicking”. However, this is “only the tip of the iceberg”.
