Microsoft Game Studios vice-president Phil Spencer believes 343 Industries, the team working on Halo 4, can take over the Halo franchise “without missing a beat,” according to an interview with OXM.

“The good thing about 343 is that they’ve had the time, through the dev of Reach, working on getting the map packs out, and getting to know the infrastructure and the build systems and everything about Halo,” said Spencer.

“They’ve also brought in their own talent and their own view so that they can put their own stamp on the franchise,” he added, going on to say that the studio is “in a position to take over the franchise without missing a beat.”

Halo is clearly hugely important to Microsoft and the Xbox, with Spencer stating that “If we lose our way with Halo, we lose our way with Xbox”.

343 will be at the forefront of new developments according to Spencer.

“State of the art needs to continue to move forward, and our team at 343 need to move forward with that. That’s always going to be one of our success criteria.”

343 is currently working on Halo 4 and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary – the latter will feature Kinect features that enhance the experience.
