It comes as no surprise, but Bizarre Creations has today announced that motorbikes will be ridable in Project Gotham Racing 4. Together with the announcement a bunch of new screenshots have been released showing the bikes in action.
Just because bikes are new to the series that doesn’t mean they will be any less detailed than the cars. Bizarre says the bikes are just as detailed as the cars were in PGR3 and will include working clocks, moving chains, throttle/clutch levers and an animated driver.
The PGR4 racing experience is all about fun and this will be carried over to the bikes, meaning players won’t experience the same struggles with the handling that might normally be the case with motorbike sims. Not only will players be able to wheelie and endo, but power sliding will also be possible.
Kudos is also still the name of the game, with power sliding just one way of gaining points. A new ‘Stunt button’ will pull off a crazy move earning you further Kudos and showing your opponents who is boss.
Anyone displeased by the introduction of bikes won’t be forced to ride them if they don’t want to, with the Career mode being open enough for players to choose to avoid the two-wheeled variety if they wish.
Bizarre has also adopted a Hollywood racing style, meaning cars and bikes can compete without the real world issues. In PGR4 a bike will be able to take a collision with a car and the rider won’t be sent flying to the tarmac. Bikes will scrape and judder against car bodywork just like car-on-car collisions. Don’t expect barriers to be so forgiving though. The general rule to follow is that if it’s your fault then you’ll come off.
Finally Bizarre confirmed that they will be showcasing part three of its sneak peek video series in the coming weeks. This time viewers will see a brand new city to the PGR series: Macau, China.
