Mortal Kombat from Warner Bros. Interactive’s Netherrealm Studios sold over one million copies during April in America, series creator Ed Boon has confirmed.
Data released overnight by sales tracking firm NPD Group put the figure at just under 900,000 units, but Boon Tweeted to confirm that the figure didn’t include the special version. According to Boon the figure is actually over one million.
Portal 2 came in at No.2 with 637,000 units at retail, then came LEGO Star Wars III, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Tiger Woods 12 and Crysis 2 at No.6 with a further 236,000 units.
The one million start for Mortal Kombat gives the bloody brawler a better opening than Capcom’s Street Figher IV, which managed 850,000 back in February 2009 over a comparable time on stores shelves.
