Mortal Kombat 1 developer NetherRealm Studios has announced the return of the blood-starved warrior Nitara to the game’s roster after the sanguine vampiress was last featured as a playable fighter in 2006’s Mortal Kombat Armageddon. However, her surprising, but welcome return wasn’t the most astonishing part of this character’s Mortal Kombat 1 teaser trailer as the developers also revealed that Nitara is being voiced by none other than Megan Fox.

Now, Megan Fox isn’t exactly a stranger when it comes to collaborating with video game studios and their high-profile IPs. After all, she previously helped promote Diablo 4 during its early stages with her short-lived “Diablo Deaths” series. In these clips, she eulogized those who had unfortunately fallen during the highly publicized hardcore race to level 100 competition and some of the names she had mentioned during that time included content creators like shroud, Rhykker, and DrLupo.

This also isn’t Megan Fox’s first time playing a demonic, essence stealing creature in popular media. Back in 2009, Fox had played the titular character in the horror comedy film Jennifer’s Body, which saw her frequently turning into a bloodthirsty beast that required human flesh to survive. The film even gets alluded to at one point in the trailer as Kung Lao asked Nitara: “What did you do with Jen’s body?,” to which she answered: “Poor Kung Lao. You’ll never see her again.”

Now that Nitara’s been introduced to the fray, the Mortal Kombat 1 character list is starting to shape up nicely as several classic names have already been added to the stable as well. Of course, with the series timeline being reset by the all-powerful Liu Kang in MK11, the return of several beloved figures may not be as surprising to hardcore fans.

As always, you’ll be able to check out the Mortal Kombat 1 Nitara and Megan Fox preview for yourself through the game’s official channel.
