THQ has announced that SpongeBob vs. The Big One: Beach Party Cook-Off is in development and scheduled to makes its debut exclusively for Nintendo DS in March 2009. The game is based on Nickelodeon’s upcoming, special April episode of the same name and will see players slicing and dicing their way in the Krusty Krab kitchen to become the ultimate fry cook in Bikini Bottom.

Mr. Krabs has singed up to compete in the cooking contest that will determine who will cater Jack Kahuna Laguna’s Big Beach Party. It will be the player’s task to assist SpongeBob, Patrick and friends in running the Krusty Krab and training Plankton’s cousins in the creation of the best deep-sea dishes.

Players will serve more than 100 zany entrées, such as a Krabby Patty, Anemone Meatloaf, Fried Seaweed Sandwiches and other Sponge-i-fied foods. The game will also feature more than 25 different cooking activities and players will learn to cook SpongeBob style using unique culinary techniques such as skipping, painting and slingshooting.

The game will also feature wireless cooperative gameplay and authentic voice-overs from Tom Kenny, the official voice talent of SpongeBob.
