The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Mexican actor Diego Boneta has signed up for the upcoming movie adaptation of Monster Hunter.

Boneta is probably best known for his portrayal of Luis Miguel in the eponymous Netflix series based on the Latin singer, and is also set to appear in the next Terminator movie alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton.

Boneta will join the likes of Milla Jovovich, Tony Jaa, Ron Perlman, and T.I. Harris in the Paul W.S. Anderson-directed action flick. Monster Hunter's script also seems to have been completely changed from its previous 2016 incarnation, too.

Apparently, it now focuses on a United Nations military unit lead by Jovovich's character, Artemis, who ends up being transported to a monster-infested realm. Once there, she teams up with someone known as the Hunter (Jaa), with the pair then attempting to close up a portal to stop the creatures invading Earth.

Boneta's role has been confirmed as that of a communications expert on Artemis' squad. Yeah, it sounds absolutely nothing like the games, right?

There's no word on when the Monster Hunter flick will turn up in cinemas.
