In only two weeks Capcom’s Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G has now sold 1.369 million units in Japan, with week 2 sales recorded at 488,208 units. The popularity of the Monster Hunter series has helped the PSP to a second successive week in which the handheld sold over 120,000 units – more than double that of the Nintendo DS.

Sales of the second Pokemon Ranger title and Wii Fit also continued to impress, recording weekly totals of 58,399 and 39,367 respectively. Lifetime sales of Wii Fit in Japan now stand at 1.834 million units.

As mentioned earlier the PSP dominates the hardware chart, followed by the Nintendo DS (55,190), Wii (44,618), PS3 (11,303), PS2 (10,423) and Xbox 360 (1,452).

As of April 6 sales of the PlayStation 3 in Japan stood just a stone’s throw away from two million units – 1,999,569. To put this figure into perspective Wii sales stand at 5,716,221 and Xbox 360 sales at only 555,839 units.
