According to Capcom senior director of communications, Chris Kramer, the video game publisher is ready to back its Monster Hunter franchise in North America, with strong marketing hoped to push it into the mainstream.
“Capcom believes in Monster Hunter in the US and we’re planning on getting behind the brand in a big way,” Kramer explained on the official Capcom blog. “We think that with some serious outreach and marketing muscle that we can make this series almost as big here in North America as it is in Japan.”
The Monster Hunter franchise is a big deal in Japan; Monster Hunter Portable 2nd sold 700,000 during its first week on release back in February 2007 and has gone on to sell more than two million units.
