Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has debuted at the top of the Japanese video game chart, according to Media Create.
The PS3 subtitled version (a dubbed version will appear in mid-December) sold 180,372 copies, whilst the Xbox 360 version shifted a further 30,467 copies.
Success in Japan for the military shooter series isn’t unusual, with last year’s Black Ops topping the chart with 128,922 copies sold on PS3 and 30,279 on Xbox 360. Year on year the franchise has achieved a considerable week one sales increase, however.
Other western titles to make the Top 20 in Japan this week included Saints Row: The Third at No.5 with 36,222 units on PS3, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 on PS3 with 22,436 copies and Halo Anniversary at No.15 with 13,106 copies.
