Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will support LAN on PC, Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling has confirmed in response to a series of questioning relating to competitive play.

“Lots of competitive questions from #XP2011,” Tweeted Bowling. “Yes, #MW3 has LAN along with detailed class restriction control + default class creation option.”

LAN play will offer the “ability to restrict any weapon, equipment, perk, deathstreak, secondary, attachment, ANYTHING from being used when setting up game,” Bowling added.

This all comes in addition to previously confirmed PC specific support including dedicated servers, public server files and giving control back to the player.

Modern Warfare 3 launches November 8.

There was never any real suggestion that LAN play would be dropped from Modern Warfare 3 – previous games in the series have supported LAN – but the introduction of Call of Duty: Elite did have some fans concerned we might be looking at a StarCraft II / Battle.net situation.
