The first Modern Warfare 3 maps released via Call of Duty Elite – Liberation and Piazza – are reported to be locked to the Xbox LIVE account tied to Elite, despite terms of the download stating this shouldn’t be the case.

Whilst the download terms for the map downloads – and all other LIVE DLC – states that “access to this item will also be granted to all users on this first console,” this conflicts with A Call of Duty: Elite premium subscription which is tied to a single Xbox LIVE account.

The maps can be played split-screen, however.

Given the way in which the DLC is tied to Elite, it seems unlikely that a way to open up the content to other users of the same Xbox will be forthcoming. It remains unclear if DLC will “unlock” once it becomes available outside of the Elite subscription in March.
