Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 failed to match up to the UK sales record set by 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, according to data released by ERA and published by MCV.

Modern Warfare 3 shifted 2,814,609 copies in the UK between its November 8 release and December 31, 2011. In contrast, Black Ops moved a massive 3,266,298 copies in the same time period back in 2010.

That’s a difference of 451,789 copies.

EA’s FIFA 12 was also unable to keep up with the previous year’s game, with its total of 2,193,302 copies coming 196,929 copies short of FIFA 11.

On the whole the UK video game market was down 13 per cent when compared to 2010, which could help explain the Call of Duty franchise decline of 13.83 per cent.
