According to data published by Top Global Markets, an integrated monthly report from leading providers of consumer and retail information in the video games industry, The NPD Group, GfK Chart-Track Limited and Enterbrain, Inc., Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sold 11.86 million units worldwide in 2009.
Of this 11.86 million, a huge 8.82 million was accounted for in the US, 2.8 million in the UK and a meagre 237,500 in Japan.
The rest of the year’s Top 5 selling games were all exclusive to the Wii: Wii Sports Resort, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Wii Fit Plus and Wii Fit.
