Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey has stated that he believes Activision’s Modern Warfare 2 will be the “largest video game release” of 2009 with day one sales totalling $338 million.
“We anticipate the sell through to consumers of 11.1 million units for an estimated retail value of $803 million and sell-in approximating 12.4 million units, for an approximated sales value of $666 million (assuming demand is 90 per cent of supply),” said Hickey.
Hickey also noted that day one unit sales could reach 4.6 million, with first week sales of 7.8 million units.
