DICE marketing director Martin Frain has revealed that the internal sales target for the highly anticipated Mirror’s Edge is three million units worldwide, a figure he feels could easily be topped.
“I would look for worldwide sales of over three million, on three platforms,” Frain told Edge. “I think it has the potential to do a lot more than that.”
Frain believes the game’s projected success is down to a number of reasons, notably the unique look of the title and a strong PR campaign.
“We’re being helped immensely, just by the look of the game,” said Frain. “You look at a screen shot of Mirror’s Edge, and you know what it is.”
He continued: “And we were quite frugal with our assets. So we had a lot of people questioning, ‘What is this game about?’
“If it’s not interesting, then you can withhold whatever you want – no one’s going to talk about it.
“But I think if we’d flooded the market straight away… people would have become immune.”
Mirror’s Edge is scheduled for release on November 14 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A PC version will follow at a later date.
