Minecraft has reached the staggering sales milestone of 100 million copies worldwide. The figure is actually more than 106 million copies, but what’s an extra six million when you’ve sold that many.

For a bit of context, Rockstar’s GTA 5 has shipped more than 65 million units worldwide, which puts it some 40 million units behind Minecraft.

“We’d like to offer our heartfelt thanks to every one of you who’s bought Minecraft over the past few years, no matter which platform you play on,” reads the Mojang blog post. “We’re constantly in awe of our community and the amazing things you achieve together. You really are the best. <3”

An interesting stat is that if every person who bought a copy of the game came together to form a a nation, this Minecraft nation would be the 12th most populous in the world. On average Minecraft has sold 53,000 copies a day. Check out more stats in the graphic below.
