Indie blockbuster Minecraft has now racked up $80 million in revenues, thanks to over five million copies sold.
And there’s plenty of room for that figure to grow, with the game boasting a massive 25 million registered players – five million of which have joined in the past month.
Mobile versions are already available on a variety of handsets and the Xbox 360 edition will be released May 9.
There’s also a range of Minecraft LEGO on the way and Mojang’s chief executive Carl Manneh also won’t rule out television.
“We’ve been approached by a number of high-profile Hollywood producers and asked to do TV shows,” Manneh told the Financial Times. “We may do that. It’s hard when you don’t have any experience and someone comes to throw these ideas around. We have so much to focus on with just the game development and growing the business. But if the right idea comes along and the right people that we’d want to work with, we’d say why not?”
