MindsEye is attempting to make a comeback, but the ARCADIA revival has been roasted by players for its trailer ending with the lyrics, “Play my game is all I’m asking”. This is the butt of the joke for many of the comments on YouTube, but the plea is understandable as on Steam the player count has sunk to an abysmally low 24-hours peak concurrent of just 15.

According to the YouTube description, ARCADIA is an “ever-expanding world of missions, races, puzzles, and challenges”. For those on PC, there’s “Build.ARCADIA [which] unlocks intuitive tools to create and share your own experiences”. Unfortunately, the first ARCADIA trailer has been met with little fanfare acquiring less than 10,000 views, and the second has fared even worse at just 1.5K.

We can only track the player count for Steam, but, according to Steam Charts, the game’s 24-hour peak right now is just 15 players. Its all-time peak was already poor at 3,302, but nearly dropping to single digits and nothing is astonishingly bad. Reminder, the game only came out on June 10th.

Unfortunately, MindsEye was a disaster from day one. It was quickly thrown in the Walmart bargain bin during its first week out, and the technical problems were so bad that PlayStation gave refunds, similar to what happened with Cyberpunk 2077. Build a Rocket Boy are striving for a comeback story similar to Cyberpunk 2077, but the chances are very slim.

There was also the issue of studio boss, Leslie Benzies, blaming “internal and external saboteurs” for the game’s mishaps. What’s even worse is that developers at Build a Rocket Boy signed an open letter with accusations of mistreatment and belittlement, as well as mishandled layoffs.

Following MindsEye, there were rumors that Build a Rocket Boy were working on MindsEye 2 as well as a game based on a “TV show everyone knows”. None of this is official, and any hypothetical plans for MindsEye 2 are likely scuppered as the brand’s name is completely tarnished.
