Crowdfunded platformer Mighty No.9 has finally gone gold, director Keiji Inafune has announced, with a UK release set for June 24. The game will release three days earlier in North America and Asia on June 21.

Mighty No.9 has faced multiple delays, having originally been due to launch in April 2015. It was later pushed back to February 2016, before being delayed again to spring 2016.

The June release date is nailed on, however, Inafune says, stating that “there will be no further delays for the game”.

“We understand that as a result of the various delays we have disappointed and let down our fans, but we are happy to finally be able to deliver the game to everyone who brought us this far,” Inafune said in a message posted on the game’s website. “With the game having ‘gone gold’ we are in the last final stages of being able to deliver it into your hands, be that via your favorite retail outlet, or via digital channels. Therefore the release date we are announcing is set in stone and there will be no further delays for the game.”

The game is expected to release on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Wii U in June, with PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS versions to follow “at a later point”.

“It has been almost three years since the start of our Kickstarter campaign, which was only made possible through the support of our backers and fans around the world,” added Inafune. “This is a project where everyone’s passions were combined in order to create something very special, and we are looking forward to delivering the final product to everyone who was involved. There can be no stronger connection between game creators and game fans.”

Mighty No.9’s Kickstarter campaign drew in almost $4 million when it launched back in August 2013, passing its initial $900,000 target within less than 48 hours. As well as releasing digitally, the game is also being brought to physical retail by publisher Deep Silver.
