Microsoft has confirmed it has rebranded its game development outfit, so wave goodbye to Microsoft Studios and say hello to….Xbox Game Studios!

The organisation houses 13 game development studios, including those responsible for churning out entries in the Age of Empires, Forza, Gears, and Halo franchises that make up the bulk of Xbox's exclusive slate.

These include some of the studios that have been snapped up recently by Microsoft, such as Obsidian Entertainment, Ninja Theory, and Playground Games.

'As we’ve expanded our focus beyond the console, the Xbox brand has also evolved from its original roots. Today, Xbox is our gaming brand across all devices, no matter how or where you want to play, or who you want to play with,' said Microsoft.
