Xbox 360 owners hoping for a demo of upcoming Japanese RPG Lost Odyssey are still in the dark – Microsoft can’t confirm if or when a demo will be hitting Marketplace.

Fans of the genre have high hopes for Lost Odyssey, which is being developed by Mistwalker, the studio started by Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of the Final Fantasy series.

The 360 exclusive, pencilled in for a February 2008 release in Europe, will come on at least four dual layer DVDs, making it the largest game on Microsoft’s console so far.

When contacted by VideoGamer.com, a Microsoft spokesperson couldn’t confirm whether a demo will be coming to Xbox Live Marketplace, nor make any comment on a possible release date.

However, it seems probable that we will see a Lost Odyssey demo on Marketplace at some point before the game’s release. A demo for Blue Dragon, a multi-disc, Microsoft-published Japanese RPG also from Mistwalker, was released before the game came out in August this year.

Microsoft also couldn’t confirm a release date for a Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom demo, the action game with role-playing elements for 360 and PC. The game, the fourth in the KUF series, is due out February 1 2008. A demo is currently available on the Korean version of Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
