Asobo Studio has announced that its free Top Gun Maverick expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator is now available.

The new additions are of course, to mark the Tom Cruise film of the same name. The pack promises to challenge players to push their piloting skills to the limit with some new challenges. As we previously learned, the pack includes a movie-inspired skin for the F/A-18E Super Hornet, but there’s some additional stuff too.

First up are three training missions for the Super Hornet. You’ll get behind the stick of this aircraft and master unrestricted take-offs, split S manoeuvres and low altitude, high-speed moves. You’ll also find five high speed challenges that will take you through mountains and canyons. On top of that, there’s also a carrier deck landing challenge ripped straight from the new movie. No word on a volleyball scene like in the original though.

Mysteriously, the expansion also teases a “never-before-unveiled hypersonic aircraft that can attain speeds of Mach 10 and altitudes greater than 150,000 above sea level”. Plus a mission to roar into the stratosphere, probably the closest you’ll get to some space travel. It all looks very exciting, as you can see in the trailer below.

The free Top Gun Maverick DLC is available now for Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game is also playable on Xbox One via Cloud Gaming on Xbox Game Pass.
