Microsoft has no plans to create its own copy of Sony’s highly acclaimed Naughty Dog studio, Microsoft Studios corporate vice-president Phil Spencer has said.

In a conversation on Twitter, Spencer responded to a question about Naughty Dog.

“ND is a special studio with an amazing track record. I believe they are unique in our industry,” he wrote.

He added: “Great studios have unique culture. Creating a studio to be ‘like’ another isn’t a goal for us.”

That’s not to say Microsoft isn’t hoping to nurture its own strong internal teams.

“Having great internal studios is absolutely part of the plan, it’s critical to long term success,” Spencer concluded.

Microsoft’s highest-profile studios include Rare, 343 Industries, Lionhead and Turn 10, whilst Black Tusk Studio in Vancouver is working on an unannounced title.
