A remastered release of Halo Reach doesn’t appear to be on the cards after Xbox boss Phil Spencer suggested on Twitter that backwards compatibility may be the only way to play the Xbox 360 title on Xbox One.

Asked on Twitter if Halo Reach would ever come to Xbox One “as a DLC for MC collection or Maybe HALO Reach Anniversary”, Spencer replied, “I’d like to see it come via back compat”.

Reach would be the only first-person shooter Halo title not to be given a port to Xbox One, after ODST was launched at the end of May.

Regarding Reach, executive producer Dan Ayoub told VideoGamer [xurl=/xboxone/halo_the_master_chief_collection/news/343_is_thinking_about_bringing_halo_reach_and_odst_to_xbox_one.html]this time last year[/url]: “What I can tell you is probably the biggest question we get from people is, what about ODST and Reach. What I can say is it’s certainly not in our development timeline or planning right now [but] we’ve heard that question so much that it has seeped into our collective subconscious. I think enough people have asked about it that we are thinking about it.”
