Based on Metacritic data, Nintendo published the best games of the three platform holders in 2010. From 39 rated titles, Nintendo averaged a score of 76.1, Microsoft came in second with an average of 73.4 from 21 titles, and Sony came in third with an average of 70.9 from 46 rated titles.

Each of the big three had stand out titles, although Nintendo won that battle too, with Super Mario Galaxy 2 averaging a super 97 review score. Halo: Reach on the Xbox 360 averaged 91 and God of War 3 on PS3 averaged one point higher with 92.

Interestingly, according to Metacritic Sony’s PSP releases averaged better than those on PS3 – an average of 73 compared to 69.8.

Out of the big publishers who don’t own platforms, Take Two Interactive came out on top, with an excellent game average of 77.1, helped by the 95 review score average Red Dead Redemption received.

Sony coming third out of the big three might be surprising to some, but the drubbing the publisher’s PlayStation Move titles received no doubt pushed the average down considerably.
