It hasn’t been a well kept secret, but Codemasters has now officially announced the development of Micro Machines v4. In development at Supersonic Software (the guys responsible for the largely excellent Mashed), v4 will arrive in the summer. The toys and the games became hugely popular in the 90s, but have made fleeting appearances since.
The game is set to include a huge assortment of micro-sized vehicles and will let players race outside of the home environment, taking races to the sewers, supermarkets and beyond. Classic weapons will make an appearance too, including the car-mounted giant hammer.
The game will arrive on a mix of current-gen and handheld platforms, with the PlayStation 2 and PC versions being joined by PSP and DS games.
