Enterbrain sales data, reported by Kotaku, has revealed that Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 4 sold an impressive 476,334 units over its first four days on sale. This figure includes the copies included in hardware bundles.
170,000 units were accounted for by the Special Edition, while only 130,000 units of the regular version were snapped up.
The game’s first week compares favourably to previous instalments in the series too. Enterbrain figures put MGS1 at 316,833, MGS2 at 456,747 and MGS3 at 487,156.
Sony can also celebrate renewed interest in the PS3, with sales for the console up from a weekly average of 10-12,000 units to 77,208 units over the launch week for MGS4.
