Metal Gear Solid fans concerned that the fourth game in series might miss its scheduled Q2 release can take heart in news that the team at Kojima Productions is going through hell to ensure the title makes it out without a further delay.

“The next few months are going to be hell,” assistant producer Ryan Payton said in the latest Kojima Productions podcast. “Yeah, and we’re committed to this quarter-two release date, or release timeframe.”

Payton added: “We’re committed. Mr Kojima of all people is committed to it because he really hates to disappoint people, and I know that he is embarrassed by what happened with the 2007 slip into 2008, because we even put it in our trailer with Raiden slashing away ‘2008’ and when you go that far you put a seal on it and then he has to delay it – that really hurt.”

PAL gamers are used to huge delays, with translation work meaning titles often release here months after the US and Japan, but this won’t be the case with MGS4 – at least that’s what Payton is saying right now. Expect a “simultaneous worldwide release” although this doesn’t mean the same day across all territories.
