According to a Weekly Famitsu article celebrating two years of the PS3 (reported by PS3 hyper) the best-selling PS3 game in Japan is, quite unsurprisingly, Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 4.
As of November 16, 2008 Metal Gear Solid 4 is reported to have sold 671,706 units in Japan, some 260,000 units more than its nearest rival.
Top five selling PS3 game in Japan:
1. Metal Gear Solid 4 – 671,706
2. Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds – 408,175
3. Dynasty Warriors 6 – 371,443
4. Dynasty Warriors: Gundam – 317,580
5. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 – 316,533
In Japan the PS3 has sold approximately 2.5 million units, meaning around 1 in 4 owners have picked up MGS4.
